Is a 1.0 failing at MSU? ›

NS-Not Satisfactory – No credit granted represents a level of performance below 1.0 for undergraduate students and below 2.0 for graduate students except for the College of Veterinary Medicine Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students where NS represents performance below 1.0.

The average high school GPA for admitted students at MSU is 3.73 on a 4.0 scale. (You can calculate your high school a GPA here.) This is a very competitive GPA, and MSU is clearly accepting students at the top of their high school class.

Although a 2.5 GPA is below the average GPA of accepted students at MSU, which is around 3.8 out of 4.0, college admissions are not solely based on GPA. Other factors, such as extracurricular activities and personal statements, can impact your chances of being accepted.

CSS 202: World of Turf

This is probably the easiest class offered at MSU. The main purpose of this course is to learn about the role of turf in society. How much easier could it get? Well, as if it weren't enough of an easy 4.0 class, the entire course is online.

Most colleges and universities generally consider a "D" (or a 60% to 69% score) as a passing grade. It's important to note that this minimum or lowest passing grade standard can significantly vary depending on the institution or major. For instance, some universities may require a "C" or better to pass.

That said, a 1.0 is considered the lowest GPA you can get. A 1.0 means, overall, you have received a D average in high school or college. Some colleges have GPA cutoffs where if you score lower than their requirements, they will not consider your application.

A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher with strong grade performance. 24 or more credits deemed transferable to MSU, earned after high school graduation. Applicants with less than 24 transferable credits are required to provide final high school transcripts.

Michigan State University has an acceptance rate of 88%. Half the applicants admitted to Michigan State who submitted test scores have an SAT score between 1100 and 1340 or an ACT score of 24 and 30.

In order to pass the MSU-CELC a candidate needs an overall score of 60 points and above from all four sections.

Failing one or more classes could result in academic probation or suspension, depending on your school's policy or the requirements for your major. Most schools place students on academic probation if they fall below a minimum 2.0 GPA at the end of any semester.

A student earning a grade of "F" in any semester in any course required for graduation must repeat and successfully complete the required course with a passing grade of "C" or above within two (2) semesters.
